Woodland Workshop
This workshop was built for a customer who wanted to use timber from her own trees to create a unique space for doing green wood working and to store firewood.
The curved blades of the cruck frame were taken from a windblown bough of a colossal oak belonging to the customer which we were able to cut into beams and build into the finished frame.
We manufactured doors in house from quarter sawn local Oak, and Cedar of Lebanon, and the windows from Western Red Cedar. The practical workshop is elevated by these and other details, to make a space that invites the owner to while away her hours at one with the woodland.
Summer House
Defined by the space it was to occupy, this summer house was built to maximise the panoramic view that the site offers of the south lakeland fells. Taken from naturally curved boughs, the curved braces at the front of the building support a cedar shingle roof sheltering the deck from inclement weather.
Carport
When a customer came to us with a drawing of the timber framed shelter he wanted building, we were able to adapt it into a traditional frame, matching the roof pitch to that of the existing house. A single clean stem of over five metres was needed to provide the large beam spanning the front, providing sufficient space to maneuver vehicles in and out. Above it a truss and purlin roof topped with larch spars supports a slate roof.
