Learn to Timber Frame
One of the most enduring forms of building known to humankind is timber frame construction. There are examples in the UK dating back many hundreds of years that are a testament both to the skill of medieval craftsmen and the durable design of the buildings. Many of the timbers used have spent longer as part of a building than they ever did growing as a tree. The aim of our week-long course is to give an introduction to the tools and techniques employed to build a traditional post and beam building. For the course we have a building design to follow that should illustrate and give you practice with all of the key techniques and elements of design that you would employ in building a timber frame of your own.
